About

My journey to Jesus…and myself

I’ve always wanted to be a writer, and my journals began as a way to discipline myself to put words onto a page every day. Through the years as I’ve matured spiritually, my journals evolved into a place to dialogue with God; a safe way to sort through the questions and emotions I was uncomfortable voicing to anyone else. Often I’d question what I was supposed to do with my passion for writing, asking again and again why God had so clearly given me that desire without clear purpose or direction. Little did I know as I was questioning God’s purpose for my writing, He was listening and leading me to write my first book. Isn’t it funny how we get so focused on DOING that we overlook the value of simply BEING?

God has moved me way beyond my comfort zone- it is unsettling to open my journal and share my intimate thoughts beyond my trusted circle of friends and family. But after much prayer and confirmation, I see that’s exactly what He’s asking all of us to do- be transparent. In order to impact this world for eternity, we must stop trying to cover our flaws and trust God to use them. It is through our vulnerabilities and failures that God’s power is most obvious.

As children of the King, we must be willing to walk honestly with our Father and with each other. We must stop doubting God’s ability to use us and stop questioning His willingness to speak directly to us.

Throughout the Bible, God told His people to build altars of memorial so they’d remember where He met them and how He’d provided for them. I’m convinced that He’s calling us to do the same thing right now, to record our journey so we can be reminded of all the ways He meets us, provides for us and speaks to us on a personal level.

Thank you for being willing to walk with me- it is my prayer that along the way you’ll recognize God’s hand reaching out for yours. Don’t be afraid to take it- He’s the best traveling companion I know!

  1. Beautiful! Thank you for being willing to share your heart!

  2. Good luck and remember God has already been there and he is waiting in the deep end. Maybe soon I can find the courage to write the book so many have asked me to write, too.

  3. Thanks, Tim! I agree that your story needs to be shared- I look forward to reading it!

  4. Beautiful! I’m right there! I was just telling a friend about being more open and honest with everyone, especially handing over the reigns as I have mucked everything up. I even used the word “transparent”.

    • Kyle,
“Transparent” is the key, because it soon becomes obvious that you aren’t alone in mucking things up- we’re all pretty good at it. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words.

  5. Got hit with a similar message from God a year or so ago – and you were a part of our “stepping out” of the comfort zone we found ourselves in, thanks. Somehow very uncomfortable, but very right at the same time. — I’ll be reading.

    • I’m excited to see what these next few years bring for both of us! 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement- and example of what it means to walk when the road isn’t as you’ve always expected!

  6. This is great Mom! Write more!

  7. Thanks for helping me latley. I needed to hear this!
